Even though it may seem like our hot summer weather has only just begun, I am suddenly struck with a fall mood and am excited to pull out my scarves and build up the layers! After going shopping at the Rehoboth Beach Outlets this past weekend, I have fallen into the back-to-school trap and have purchased a few new items that I’m anxious to wear once it gets colder. If saving a bit is worth it to you, then driving to the outlets is a great way to find all the current looks for less. I’ll share with you some looks that are reminiscent of the goodies I picked up!
At Banana Republic I found a dark teal Merino Wool sleeveless dress with a ruffled collar and it was only $55.99! Currently, you can pick up this black ruffled dress in Banana Republic stores for a pricier $180. Still cute though!

I would love to wear my new dress with a pair of slouchy tan leather boots- something similar to these ones that I found at zappos.com.

(Eric Michaels- $212)
At Charlotte Russe I found these two tops and can’t wait to wear them with my new pair of Stella Skinny jeans from Express! I love Express jeans and Stella is the perfect fit for my body. I recently picked up two pairs of Stella’s that were originally priced $59.50 each, but with a coupon and a buy one, get one 50% off sale going on, it ended up totaling $69.50 for both! These two tops were originally $19.99 each, and with a mystery discount coupon, I ended up getting 40% off both, making my total only $23.98. Talk about smart shopping!!

Finally, I just wanted to show you all this fun little scarf that I almost bought at Charlotte Russe and then decided not to because I wasn’t sure how much I’d wear it. Although with the 40% off that I had, I should’ve just gone for it because at only $8.99 to start, it would’ve been an absolute steal at about $5.40! Oh well… there will always be other accessories to indulge in!

Oh my gosh- what an awesome family!! This is my third session with them and they just keep getting better! They are full of energy and smiles all around. And Dad showed me the neatest thing– the Flip video camera! I loved it so much I ran out and got one immediately for myself. So cool! I look forward to having this family back again in the future as their little guy grows up!

Hey everyone! I hope you all are enjoying your last couple weeks of summer before it is back-to-school time for the kids! This week, I wanted to focus on some children’s styles that may be making an appearance in your child’s wardrobe this fall.
Multilayered outfits are still in style for kids (and I really don’t see them ever going out!) because they add function to your kid’s clothes. Little girls look cute in tunics paired with leggings or jeans and the tunics this season stand out with their details that include crocheting, beaded appliques, embroideries and other subtle accents. Boys look sporty and casual in hoodies, jeans with unique details, and funky printed shirts. Here are two outfits that I pulled together from a website called “Trendy Brandy Kids.” I paired both with Converse sneakers in fun prints because I love the mix-and-match look of putting varying prints together. Also, these sneakers are stylish and practical for all the running around that kids do!

(tunic- $88, leggings- $38, Converse-$35/shirt-$23, hoodie-$39, jeans-$64, sneakers-$20.99)

Next, I visited one of my favorite sites for all things handmade- Etsy! Do any of you use Etsy? They have such cool items and I feel good about buying from them because I know my money is going to an actual person who put their time and hard work into making my item. Plus, since you can only make so many of something, it’s less likely that I’ll run into someone with the same thing, and that just makes me feel special wearing/using it! I checked out their section for children and found a couple of great additions to add to your kid’s new layered outfit or even to clothes from last year, making them new again!
I loveee these newsboy caps for boys and girls when the weather gets a little chilly or your little one is having a bad hair day! These come from the SimplyJCrochet shop and they make all colors and hats with floral details too!

(hat-$22)
I found these blouse’s in the shop 1crown3tiaras and I love the vintage-looking fabrics and colors for the fall! The vintage-inspired look is still going strong and you can pair these with leggings or even the great bell-bottom pants that are also sold in this shop. I’m jealous of how fun and whimsical kids clothes can be!!

(tops-$30, berry pants-$26, brown pants-$30)
I’m a sucker for cute headbands and I thought this headband on this little girl’s head of curls was just adorable! (Bubbaloubands shop)

Finally, a few items for the boys… I found these awesome leg/arm warmers that are for both boys and girls. I love how the boys wear them under their tshirts, which means your guy’s summer tees may be able to last a little longer into the fall! These can be found at MamaRunsWithScissors shop.

(leg/arm warmers-$8/pair)
How will you save some money by reworking your children’s clothes from last season? Do you like handmade or store bought? Are layers and vintage-inspired still a yes or losing their appeal?
I love that the excitement of a new baby always brings great energy to my maternity sessions, and that was especially true of this fun family! This was simply one amazing family!!

This little guy has such a personality at such a young age! He gave me a run for my money, but thanks to two patient parents, and a lot of mommy snuggle time, he performed well! I love awake baby shots – they are so rare for me, and sometimes I really just prefer them so much. This little guy is definitely one to remember!

I’m going to be completely honest here. twins are HARD. very hard. I had every expectation that this set of twins would be difficult – just like every other set of twins that enters my studio. I was 100% completely wrong! This set of delicious new twinhood was very very easy! They are so well behaved – and at such a young age! I am thinking it’s because they have cool parents… or maybe just an amazing photographer? We’ll never know!!!

Today, I’m going to share a picture story with you! I received a request a few months ago to photograph two of my favorite clients at Woodside Creamery in Hockessin. LOVE woodside – if you’ve never been there, it is a MUST SEE for this area…. not to mention some of the best ice cream (with the exception of Penn State’s Creamery… nothing beats that!).
So, we go to woodside – just me, two boys, a dog and one awesome mom.

We play, we laugh, we giggle, we run around and I am able to get some great “pre-ice cream” portraits – and then mom walks out the door with the feature of our session – drippy, melty, oh so good vanilla and chocolate ice cream…
One of them is a “clean eater” – and very meticulous about it if I may say so:

One of them is not so clean – but we have to give him a break…. he’s got some learning to do to catch up with his big brother!

And ONE of them was a sneaky eater… lol…

As the ice cream melted, we hung out… relaxed… and let the sun (and the almost thunder storm) swirl around us…

And then we got to be a teeny bit silly…

And then our day came to a beautiful close and I will never ever go to Woodside again without remembering these two handsome and amazing boys… and their awesome mom who’s idea it was to capture them being messy, and kids.. and loving every minute of their innocence. Thank you!!!

As most of you know, I have two girls – both of whom were born with a major amount of hair. The #1 thing people would say to me when they were newborn was “look at that hair!” It was literally so long that I had them both in pigtails by 3 weeks of age. (and of course, with that hair came mega heartburn for mommy!) So, when little O was brought into my studio I was immediately transported back to when my kids were tiny and they had this wonderful downy soft hair that had no rhyme nor reason – but was wonderful all the same.
It’s incredible to look back and think that my girls were once just like this – now with hair so long, it’s being french braided and styled like crazy… how quickly things change.
So, now it’s my turn to say, “oh the hair!!!”…

Okay, so these guys hold a special place for me, and I had the BEST time photographing Casey for her 6 month portraits in Old New Castle. She LOVES being outside, and honestly, I was so excited to see that she’s so HAPPY all the time!! Between the tutu, the hair bows, and the coolest parents, my job seriously does not get any easier.

So, it’s no secret that I’m a simplistic photographer. I like basic things – simple set ups and I like to really SEE my subject without the distraction of all that craziness you sometimes see. (that’s not to say that I don’t occasionally love a funky backrop, prop or setting!).
This session was simply cohesive. Great tones, great subject, great family. Nothing rocks more than this!

I totally get that there is a stray arm in the back here – but how cute is this anyway??
