Have you ever seen anything more beautiful? a little sugar, a little spice, and a ton of fun at Ridley Creek.  Their mom was so excited to just capture this time in their lives – a fleeting moment in time when they still look innocent, and sweet, and carefree.  That’s not to say that these two beautiful girls can’t level you with one glance – they totally can!  But they haven’t honed in on the power behind that yet, and that is what we strive to capture… embracing the innocence that remains.

I can remember this guy when he was just a little peanut on his dad’s arm.. it’s always so amazing to me how different these kids look when they come back a year later.  They look nothing like that wrinkled, new baby I photographed – and it’s the most joyous thing for me to see them growing so vibrantly!

We shot at Gibraltar with a wandering child, chased by his parents, and all three of them chased by 4 grandparents!  So fun!

We were shooting at Gibraltar – about 10 seconds before the rain descended upon us – and it was a spectacular day! Two great kids who loved to explore, and LOVED to be photographed… it’s so great when I find that connection to a family, or to two kids, and it’s even better when it comes through  my lens just the way I intended for it to.

The place? Ridley Creek State Park.

The day? perfectly awesome.

The people?  Three boys, two parents and two grandparents.

There’s something different about the parents of boys.  They are relaxed, fun, and dirt doesn’t phase them.  I love that!  It’s not even just having one boy that transforms you though.. you have to have them in multiples to fully appreciate the force a pack of boys can have.  It’s truly an amazing thing, and I can really see that one day, when these three are all grown up, and they finally like each other, there isn’t anything they won’t be able to do.  This pack is strong! :)

We had the BEST time shooting these pictures, and it’s capturing images like the ones that follow that really make me love my job, and this gift that I can share.  Thank you so much to the “B” family for a fabulous day, and a great time!

Probably my new favorite sibling image of all time. We had just rolled down the hill for fun at the end of our session, and the smiles were the most genuine of the day…

I have beautiful smiling, happy pictures of this little guy, but this one is my FAVORITE. Gap Kids, anyone?

This Wednesday I wanted to focus on moms! While I am not a mother, I can definitely sympathize with running to and fro and trying to look fabulous in the process. I played around on polyvore.com and made these two outfits that I think are perfect for moms on the run and really anyone who wants to keep it simple, but keep it pulled together. I tried to incorporate some of the trends for this fall, but without being overwhelmed by them. I love skinny jeans, so break out your old pair or go pick some up and pair them with some great knee-height boots and a ruffled top with this season’s go-to– the boyfriend jacket.  Throw on some shades with your fabulous, effortless outfit and you are ready to take on the carpool lane. If you are feeling a bit more daring, try the first outfit on for size. Bootcut jeans in black are sharp, but a little more relaxed because you don’t have to worry about squeezing into the skinnys. They are a classic cut and can be matched with another ruffled top that adds some femininity to the tough leather jacket. Wear some dangling, sparkly earrings that, again, cut the fierceness of the all black ensemble and make eyes focus on you. Pair this outfit with some Converse sneakers and you are ready to run around town!Mommy ChicMommy Chic by lcmb featuring Citizens of Humanity jeans

There’s something wonderful about every session I shoot.  But there’s something absolutely magical about the special needs sessions that I shoot.  I have a place in my heart for each and every one of these kids and their amazing families.  This little guy is no exception. He’s remarkable, and beautiful, and his family loves him with every fiber of their being.  THAT is the most beautiful thing..

I’m not sure I’ve ever said this on a public forum, but I have two little girls, and they both have cystic fibrosis.  In the land of illnesses, it’s not the worst by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s not a picnic either.  I find that the most frequent thing people say to me when I tell them about my daughter’s chronic condition is “wow, I don’t know how you do it.”  It’s simple really. One foot in front of the other…

Happiness is a choice. Even in the most unbelievable circumstances, happiness is a choice.  I choose happiness and optimism every day, and believe me, it’s not easy all of the time.  But it’s a worthy choice, and one that everyone should consciously strive for.

You can see from these pictures, this family made that choice, and it’s stunning.  It’s so breathtakingly stunning.

Thank you for inviting me into your family, and allowing me to capture your love.
