No need for hats here- this baby has a head full of hair that is so adorable! Older sister also has some beautiful golden locks to be lusted over :) Why does it seem that only little kids can pull off the messy, windblown hair look? They’re so lucky that they can wash and wear! The rest of us are left slaving away with our hairdryers and straighteners or curling irons to try to look half as cute as these two munchkins. This was another great newborn session that followed up a maternity session that I adored! I hope this new bean brings this family so much joy and great hair days!

I love all of my sessions because of the unique personalities and characteristics each family brings to their shoot, but sometimes I’ll have a session that really blows me away. This one did it for me! It’s hard to say what creates a session that is spectacular; it can be the family, the location, or simply the day. This little girl was fun and full of energy, which I think rubbed off on me. I definitely had a great time with this family and that’s why I had such a hard time choosing which pictures to post! So here are a couple more than usual… enjoy!

I enjoyed meeting this family, especially their daughter who loves to dance! She seemed in her element twirling around for my camera and I love the photograph of her spinning because her dress gives the photo movement and the light is really beautiful as well. I loved how the plaid in her dress and her brother’s pants were classic Americana. They would be great choices for Independence Day :) This was definitely a relaxed,  fun session!

Siblings in sessions go one of two ways: they either love each other or hate each other. (And that’s how it is in life too, right?) You can usually get them to fake it and get the perfect, loving shot, but it makes my life much easier when it’s not a setup. I really enjoyed spending time with this family because there was no need for “faking it” and you can see that in the pure joy of their expressions in these photos. And check out the stunning baby blues on these brothers! Mom picked the perfect shirts to make them stand out.

I had the pleasure of spending the morning with four lovely teenage girls on Main Street Newark having fun and getting great photos. However, I’m sure we’d all agree that it’d be nice sometimes if we could control the weather! If I had known it was going to be so hot and humid (supposedly we have a heat warning until tomorrow) than I definitely would’ve chosen a different day. That’s why I appreciate when the weather cooperates (no thunderstorms rolling in during the middle of my shoots!) and we have a gorgeous day for photo shoots. This family’s session below is the epitome of cool; fun family, great kids, and the blue and white combo reminds of a cool ocean breeze.

These two sessions I’d like to share with you were special because they were of mom and dad still deeply in love and then of their daughter with her fiance, a rather new love in comparison.  Mom and dad’s 21 years of marriage definitely shows in the fun they can have with each other and how you can tell they appreciate one another. They give their daughter something to aim for and look forward to! I wish both couples the best in the futures together :)

One of the things I aim to do in every session is capture the natural expressions of those that I’m photographing. Everyone wants that natural shot of their family looking carefree and happy. These are the moments that we want to remember and see in our homes everyday to give us some hope when things aren’t going smoothly or it’s just one of those rough days where your kids are driving you crazy. You look up at it and think, “Ahh how picture perfect we can be!” I want to share with you a session I loved to shoot and a family that definitely has that natural love for one another.

I especially love when nature works with you too! Isn’t the sun flare in this next photo just radiant?

In these last two photos, I used a vintage effect on the photos and it gives it this nostalgic quality that reminds me of finding old photograph from when we were kids. A little bit faded, but still so beautiful in its own way.

Truly there is nothing more special or amazing than the connection between a father and his child.  It is one of my favorite things to capture through my lens, and my heart does a little skip each time I know I’ve documented something so special.  That moment when a dad lets down his guard and truly enjoys his child – it’s one for the record books, and it’s something that makes my heart weep with joy.

My favorite musician is John Mayer.  He lured me in years ago with a song called Daughters, and I believe the words are perfect for today.

“Fathers, be good to your daughters, daughters will love like you do  |  Girls become lovers who turn into mothers, so mothers, be good to your daughters too.”

Sons or daughters – the concept is the same.  We are raising our children to be these amazing and incredible people, and on days like today, I love to remember the moments I’ve captured – showcasing that incredible love between a father and his little ones.  There is nothing sweeter.

I love capturing the sweet serenity of newborns, even if they can be fussy sometimes. When they get into that deep sleep that makes them perfect for positioning, I often wonder what they could be dreaming about! This sweetie looks so peaceful and is lucky to have awesome parents too!

Every toddler has a little bit of kick, and a bit of spark, but Riley – Riley has fire.  She’s one of those little kids who lives life without reservation, and keeps her parents hopping in the process.  It’s certainly something to be admired… and envied.  If only we could all live our lives as if every moment was the most important moment of our lives.  There’s a lesson to be learned from this little one…

We photographed on a beautiful day in Oxford, PA at a family farm.  I love shooting sessions for The Littlest Heroes – I always walk away inspired, and awestruck at the strength in these little kids and their families.  I am beyond honored to be a part of Riley’s story.
