These two were a little camera shy at first.  I can understand where kids, especially young ones, are coming from– the camera can be a little intimidating. I don’t mind kids that are shy though because I still am able to capture their true spirit. It is much better for me to get a few shots of them exploring their surroundings and getting comfortable than pushing kids to be outgoing and it ends up cheesy and forced. There is beauty in every expression, whether it’s a subtle smile or a big laugh. These are some of my favorites from this bashful pair…

I love all of my sessions because of the unique personalities and characteristics each family brings to their shoot, but sometimes I’ll have a session that really blows me away. This one did it for me! It’s hard to say what creates a session that is spectacular; it can be the family, the location, or simply the day. This little girl was fun and full of energy, which I think rubbed off on me. I definitely had a great time with this family and that’s why I had such a hard time choosing which pictures to post! So here are a couple more than usual… enjoy!

I had the pleasure of spending the morning with four lovely teenage girls on Main Street Newark having fun and getting great photos. However, I’m sure we’d all agree that it’d be nice sometimes if we could control the weather! If I had known it was going to be so hot and humid (supposedly we have a heat warning until tomorrow) than I definitely would’ve chosen a different day. That’s why I appreciate when the weather cooperates (no thunderstorms rolling in during the middle of my shoots!) and we have a gorgeous day for photo shoots. This family’s session below is the epitome of cool; fun family, great kids, and the blue and white combo reminds of a cool ocean breeze.

These two sessions I’d like to share with you were special because they were of mom and dad still deeply in love and then of their daughter with her fiance, a rather new love in comparison.  Mom and dad’s 21 years of marriage definitely shows in the fun they can have with each other and how you can tell they appreciate one another. They give their daughter something to aim for and look forward to! I wish both couples the best in the futures together :)

One of the things I aim to do in every session is capture the natural expressions of those that I’m photographing. Everyone wants that natural shot of their family looking carefree and happy. These are the moments that we want to remember and see in our homes everyday to give us some hope when things aren’t going smoothly or it’s just one of those rough days where your kids are driving you crazy. You look up at it and think, “Ahh how picture perfect we can be!” I want to share with you a session I loved to shoot and a family that definitely has that natural love for one another.

I especially love when nature works with you too! Isn’t the sun flare in this next photo just radiant?

In these last two photos, I used a vintage effect on the photos and it gives it this nostalgic quality that reminds me of finding old photograph from when we were kids. A little bit faded, but still so beautiful in its own way.

It was an Indian Summer… Sort of.  It was 95 degrees on this day… in MAY.  Holy yikes!  I was on overheat, but had the best time with the Kennedy’s.  Isn’t Lucy the cutest thing EVER?

Quote for the day (for Lucy’s mom, Karen – who’s an avid runner):

“I don’t think jogging is healthy, especially morning jogging.  If morning joggers knew how tempting they looked to morning motorists, they would stay home and do sit-ups.”

~Rita Rudner

Spring has arrived, the flowers are blooming, the weather is amazing (albeit a tad bit moody and verging on PMS) – and I am beyond thrilled to be shooting outside! These are just a few of my favorites from a recent session. This is the sweetest little guy, and I think we’ll be friends for a long long time. We had a blast shooting at Gibraltar, and it warms my heart to see such genuine smiles, and unconditional happiness.

Whew! It’s been a while since I’ve posted a new set of images!  My amazing husband and I just returned from a much needed vacation to San Juan, Puerto Rico – and I’ve got over 400 images to sift through!  I will post my favorites soon!  I am refreshed and ready for the insanity that the next few months will bring… by the looks of my calendar, I won’t be getting much rest!

In the meantime, I’m starting with two sessions that I shot right before I left.  This first session was so cute.  I felt so bad for this little guys dad – he was the target of every bodily function that could possibly come in to play – but dad took it in stride (dare I say, he might have actually had fun!)

Cute, cute!

I can remember this guy when he was just a little peanut on his dad’s arm.. it’s always so amazing to me how different these kids look when they come back a year later.  They look nothing like that wrinkled, new baby I photographed – and it’s the most joyous thing for me to see them growing so vibrantly!

We shot at Gibraltar with a wandering child, chased by his parents, and all three of them chased by 4 grandparents!  So fun!
