I love when clients bring a unique prop to their sessions. It makes the pictures even more personal and special. These cool parents brought dad’s fireman helmet with the neat idea of having their baby girl sleeping in it, instead of a basket. Unfortunately, she was just too big! I still think we got a great shot incorporating it. Do I see a daddy’s girl in the making?

There’s nothing sweeter than siblings getting along because you know that it won’t last forever! I love capturing these sweet moments between older brother and baby bro. In a couple years, you know there’s going to be some roughhousing between these two, so let’s enjoy these special moments until then.

Red. I swoon when kids with red hair come into my studio – especially babies with red hair!!! This little girl was perfect, and beautiful, and everything that makes women go “awwwwww”…. lol.. such a sweet family!!

It is so rare that I get a baby in here with as many expressions and as much personality as this little girl had. I swear to the Gods above that the very first shot I took was a purely beautiful smile, and it only got better from there. It was the most fun to shoot, and editing these pictures had me giggling into my coffee…
About 1/2 of the way through the session, her mom and dad looked at me and told me that they brought their Grateful Dead t-shirts, and wanted to know if we could work them into a picture or two. Absolutely. Unfortunately, their dearest daughter didn’t care much for that idea – and it looks like mom and dad have some heavy convincing to do if they ever want their daughter to be a deadhead like her parents. lol… and there go the giggles again…
Lastly – this one is 110% for the photographer who is a die hard Nittany Lion fan. Imagine my heart going pitter pat when dad whips this hat out! I think I’ve died and gone to State College heaven… Let’s Go State! And for the record, I do not think Joe-Pa should retire… just sayin.

Awake! There is not another word I would use to describe this darling little girl. She was AWAKE. And so stinkin cute!! At just a couple weeks old, she already knows how to capture the hearts of those around her, and I have to say, she stole mine!
Today’s quote is my tribute to my own little girls – who are quickly learning how to manipulate their father with hugs, kisses and a well placed, “you are the best daddy in the whole world”… all in the name of getting just one more pack of fruit snacks. lol… I guess we should be thankful they’re not asking for money just yet, eh?

It’s not often that I get a baby who is one month old in my studio and HAPPY. Usually, they are fussy, they want to sleep, but they can’t sleep because goodness knows there is so much to look at with this new expanded vision! So, they typically cry. A LOT.
This little girl is deliciousness wrapped in a cute pink bow. She was pleasant, totally alert, and happy to play in the room with the flashing lights. She didn’t cry, she didn’t mind our fussing with her, and she didn’t even pitch a fit when her mom pulled out this CUTE hat for her to model for us. There’s nothing quite as adorable as this, right?

Ok, so I have to say that I just LOVE it when a client takes me off guard. A typical newborn session is nervous parents, crying babies, perfect accessories, and everything matched to a T. Imagine my surprise when I turn (like I always do) to ask this dad, “what are you going to wear for your pictures?”, and he says, “I’m wearing a black tshirt under this shirt.” GREAT! Let’s see it. And this, ladies and gents, is what you get when you let a dad just express himself naturally… as it should be.
what’s not to love about this?
Of course, we caught some sweet moments, and like all newborn images, you just can’t help but ooh and aah… so precious….
This same day I had the pleasure of photographing sweet Casey. She’s been around the studio 3 times now, and each time she just blossoms into such sweet beauty. How sweet is this?

A little sweet, a little messy, an itty bitty newborn to love… I am so thrilled to have been part of such a beautiful family. Yum. Yum. Love it when it all comes together like this!

Really it’s no exaggeration when I say that my eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when this little darling was carried into my studio draped in a custom pink skull and crossbones blanket, wearing a custom zebra printed fuzzy jacket, and my heart nearly stopped when her gorgeous mom pulled a brown hat with a skull and crossbones symbol out for her to wear. H E A V E N!
Beautiful baby. Beautiful parents. Fun was had by all!
It really is no surprise the styling that came with this little bundle… her mom runs a fantastic spa in Elkton Maryland. One of my new year’s resolutions is to cook more. I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of the process – the cleanup, the mixing, the waiting, blah blah blah… it’s all too much. But, I’m giving it my all, and trying at least 1 new recipe a week. This week’s recipe was AWESOME. If they all went this easily I might just cook a little more.
