I am sharing yet another mini slideshow from a recent newborn Simple Artistry session! This family now has a couple sessions under their belt with me and I look forward to sharing in all their precious moments.

“Your past is just a story. And once you realize this, it has no power over you.”

I have a TON of fun with these senior sessions because this age group is up for anything and they allow me to experiment with my photography a bit! This session was no exception, we got to get a little funky at the rundown buildings in Yorklyn, pairing pretty dresses with graffiti, and then headed over to Carousel Park to try to capture the love she has for a horse. All in all, I think the session went beautifully and I enjoyed the process!

Quote for the day:
“Maybe the past is an anchor holding us back. Maybe, you have to let go of who you are to become who you will be.”
~Sex and the City
This mother and son duo were such a pleasure to work with
Having had portraits taken for years, they were so easy to photograph and we were able to capture effortlessly the playful moments of a boy growing up. The bond between mom and son was so evident and strong and I hope it came through in these photographs from their session!

Sometimes people don’t realize how much wardrobe can really make the image. Take this recent session with these two loving parents and little girl. The vibrant pop of orange color in her romper really made these shots for me. I love how the orange contrasts with the dark purple couch and grey background. It all falls away and she really stands out, as she should! Her white dress with the distressed floor create a softer photograph, and, of course, naked always works too! So don’t neglect to consider wardrobe for your session because it can really change the mood of the image and can make what might just be nice, simply perfection

Although it takes a lot of work and coordination, I love when I get the chance to spend a day with not just one family, but several! It makes these mini sessions so rewarding being able to reconnect with past clients as their little ones have changed so much from the newborn I took photographs of only a few months ago. I love to see them grow and oh how they grow!! Here are some of my favorites from a recent session up at Ridley Creek State Park.

“And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.”
~Kahlil Gibran
I love love LOVE it when a family comes to me to celebrate their heritage and the beauty of their culture. Nothing makes me happier than to embrace and celebrate the wonderful nuances that make up America.
We shot these at Ridley Creek, on a day that was beautiful and perfect for exploring. A beautiful, amazing family, and two energetic and adorable girls. What’s better than that?

Quote for the day – in honor of the Flyers, who play Game 4 tonight:
“Don’t be discouraged. It’s often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock.”

As any woman would think, I so wish I looked this good when I was pregnant. Beyond that, there’s not much to say!!!

This Wednesday I wanted to focus on moms! While I am not a mother, I can definitely sympathize with running to and fro and trying to look fabulous in the process. I played around on polyvore.com and made these two outfits that I think are perfect for moms on the run and really anyone who wants to keep it simple, but keep it pulled together. I tried to incorporate some of the trends for this fall, but without being overwhelmed by them. I love skinny jeans, so break out your old pair or go pick some up and pair them with some great knee-height boots and a ruffled top with this season’s go-to– the boyfriend jacket. Throw on some shades with your fabulous, effortless outfit and you are ready to take on the carpool lane. If you are feeling a bit more daring, try the first outfit on for size. Bootcut jeans in black are sharp, but a little more relaxed because you don’t have to worry about squeezing into the skinnys. They are a classic cut and can be matched with another ruffled top that adds some femininity to the tough leather jacket. Wear some dangling, sparkly earrings that, again, cut the fierceness of the all black ensemble and make eyes focus on you. Pair this outfit with some Converse sneakers and you are ready to run around town!
